WATER QUALITY & HARDNESS
TESTING
Water Quality Testing
Water testing can be as simple as a bacteria test, or a
series of tests that include bacteria and minerals.
Our Standard Water Quality Test includes:
-
Bacteriology: The presence of Coliform bacteria in
well water shows that unfiltered, or poorly filtered
surface water has found its way into the well.
This indicates that the water is potentially
dangerous. You should test for bacteria any
time the well water changes in taste, color, odor or
appearance.
-
Nitrate Test: High levels of nitrate in water
present a potential health problem for infants less
that six months of age. This test is
recommended for all wells serving children less than
six months of age.
-
Hardness
We will collect samples of water from the home during
the home inspection. These samples will be sent to our
Wisconsin State Certified Laboratory. A report will be
sent to you within several days.
Fee: $100.00 Standard Water Quality and Hardness
Testing
RADON
http://www.epa.gov/radon/
Radon is an inert radioactive gas that is tasteless,
colorless, and odorless. Radon gas enters a structure
through ground soils, or well water. Elevated levels of
radon gas within a structure, increases the risk of
developing lung cancer. The US Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA) recommends that all houses be tested for
radon.
We will bring radon canisters to your home. These
canisters must remain undisturbed for several days. A
member of our company will call you to set up a time to
return to your home to collect the canisters. They
will then be sent immediately to our Certified Radon
Lab. Within a few days of collection, you will receive
a full report. If necessary, we will provide you with a
list of certified radon evacuation specialists.
Fee: $135.00 For Standard Radon Testing
SEPTIC SYSTEM INSPECTIONS
In agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Health
Services, Atlas Home Inspections
recommends that your septic inspections be performed by
a septic system professional. Recommendations include
pumping out the septic tank, inspecting the tank
visually, and examining the leaching fields.
Atlas Home Inspections does
not evaluate septic systems. We recommend you find a
certified Septic System specialist that you trust and
have confidence in, in your area.
